Help & answers

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we receive most frequently. Nothing suitable? Write to us.

Getting started & trial access

How to get started and what to expect during the free trial period.
Can I test aNuCa before signing up for a membership?
Yes. Simply register free of charge – from this point, the full version will be available to you for ten days without restrictions. A payment method is not required for registration, and there is no automatic renewal. After the ten days, you decide whether you want to sign up for a membership.

Account & login

Registration, login credentials and management of your user account.
I cannot log in – what can I do?
First, check if you are using the email address you originally registered with – occasionally, registration was done with a different address than expected. If the password is no longer correct, reset it using the function on the login page. If neither of these helps, please contact us – we will look at your account and assist you further.
Why was my account suspended?
The ten-day trial period is intended for one person only. If an account is repeatedly created to use the trial period again, we will suspend it – as is also stipulated in our terms of use. If you believe this is a mistake, simply write to us. We will review the case and get back to you.
Can multiple people use one account together?
An account is personal and intended for use by one person. If several people in your practice or business are to work with aNuCa, please feel free to contact us – we will find a suitable solution for your situation together.
How do I delete my account and what happens to my data?
You can delete your account yourself at any time – you will find the function in your account menu. Before the final step, we will remind you what will be removed. All contents of your account will be deleted: analyses, plans, curves and my feeds. Therefore, download everything you want to keep beforehand – the deletion cannot be undone during live operation. For accounting reasons, we must retain certain information about billed services; this results from the statutory retention periods. You can find more details in our Privacy Policy.
I have deleted my account – can my data be restored?
During live operation, deletion is final. However, for a limited period, usually up to 30 days, restoration from our technical backups may be possible. These backups primarily serve to protect against failures and are automatically overwritten after the retention period expires. Therefore, we only perform a restoration upon your explicit request; it involves manual effort and is therefore subject to a fee. In such a case, please contact us as early as possible – the later the request, the more likely it is that the relevant data has already been overwritten.

Membership, prices & billing

Everything about the Flex model, payment methods, invoices and cancellation.
Which membership do I need?
There is a single model: aNuCa Professional Flex. With it, you use the complete application – ration planning, analyses, bowl plans, and all other functions. The membership runs monthly and can be canceled at any time at the end of the month. You can add add-on packages like BLS, BARF planner, or amino acids separately in the Marketplace if needed.
How do I cancel my membership?
You can cancel your membership yourself in the membership management section of your account – there you will find the corresponding function for your current subscription. Alternatively, you can also end PayPal subscriptions directly in your PayPal account. You don't have to meet a deadline: With the cancellation, you merely stop the renewal. The already paid month continues normally, and your access remains fully usable until its end. After that, the membership ends automatically – your account remains, but is dormant until you wish to reactivate it. Your analyses and data are retained. An additional notification by email is not necessary: The cancellation becomes effective immediately with your confirmation. Everything you need to start and end your membership can be found in your account – no one has to wait for a response from us.
Can I pause my membership and will my data be retained?
To take a break, you can cancel your membership at any time and re-subscribe later at any time. Your access continues until the end of the already paid period. Your analyses, feeds, and plans remain in your account and will be fully available again after re-activation.
Can I only subscribe to aNuCa when I have a client?
Yes, that's exactly what the Flex model is for. You subscribe to the membership when you need it and cancel it again as soon as the consultation is completed. There is no minimum term and no commitment beyond the paid month. Between two subscriptions, your account remains and is merely dormant. All analyses, bowl plans, curves, and your own feeds are fully retained – including those you created during training. As soon as you subscribe again, they will be available to you unchanged. Especially when starting out in consulting, aNuCa can thus be precisely adapted to actual needs.
Which payment methods are available?
You can pay via PayPal or Klarna. Which options are specifically offered to you during the payment process is decided by the respective payment service provider based on country, amount, and credit check – therefore, the selection may vary in individual cases.
What can I do if I don't want to use PayPal or Klarna?
In this case, we offer manual billing: You receive an invoice from us and pay it by bank transfer – without an account with a payment service provider and without stored payment data. Since this method involves manual effort, we offer it for a term of six months or more. For a subscription of twelve months, we charge for eleven months; one month is thus included. Please contact us via the contact address in the footer – we will then coordinate the process personally with you.
What to do in case of a double charge?
Please contact us directly with the date and amount of the affected transactions. Double charges occasionally occur when billing has taken place in parallel via different payment methods. We will review the process and refund any overpaid amounts.
Where can I find my invoices?
You can find your invoices in the Billing section of your account. Provided you have not deleted your account, your invoices will remain accessible to you in the user dashboard even after cancellation of your membership. Should you have deleted your account, you can contact us at any time to receive a copy of your invoices.

Add-on packages & marketplace

Which package is intended for what and how to subscribe.
Which add-on packages are available?
Currently, three add-on packages are available: the Bundeslebensmittelschlüssel (BLS) with an extensive nutrient database, the BARF planner for the quick creation of BARF rations, and the amino acids package for the detailed evaluation of protein quality. You can subscribe to all packages in the aNuCa Marketplace; access is activated immediately.
Do I need the BARF planner for requirement-covering BARF rations?
No. You can already create requirement-covering rations – even for BARF – with the Flex membership. The BARF planner is an optional add-on module that significantly speeds up creation by automatically distributing quantities to the ration. You continue to determine the technical methodology of your plan.
The BLS is available free of charge from version 4.0 – why is the BLS package chargeable with you?
Correct, the raw data of version 4.0 is available for free download. However, our package contains more than just this one version: We provide the freely available version 4.0 with around 7,000 entries and the licensed predecessor version 3.02 with around 11,000 entries together. The benefit is not solely in the quantity: Many foods are included in both versions, but the stored nutritional values differ. You can therefore specifically choose on which data basis you calculate. Older analyses remain traceable, and foods that are no longer included in version 4.0 can still be found. In addition, there is the work that lies between raw data and usable analysis: the structured preparation, the direct integration into the aNuCa ration calculation, and future updates.

Students & lecturers

Free of charge access during training and for educational institutions.
What happens after the free student access?
The free of charge access is tied to your training and ends with its completion. Your analyses, feeds, and plans are retained. To continue working, you conclude the Flex membership – your account and all previous data remain unchanged. If you have few clients at the beginning, you do not have to maintain the membership continuously: You can book it for the period in which you actually work with it, and then cancel it again. Your data will be retained in the meantime.
My training takes longer than planned – can the free of charge access be extended?
That depends on why the period is shifting. If the course duration you specified during registration shifts – for example, because your educational institution reschedules dates – an extension is possible. For this, you will find the package "Extension Student@aNuCa" in the aNuCa marketplace under services. If, however, you decide for your own reasons to extend your training or add further modules, this is not covered by the funding program. This also applies if your education provider provides additional learning platforms. In this case, however, you lose nothing: Your analyses, plans, and your own feeds remain fully preserved. With a Flex membership, you can continue working directly – and you do not have to maintain it continuously, but can book it for the periods in which you actually use aNuCa.
Can we as an educational institution register an entire course together?
Yes. Lecturers can register their participants collectively, instead of each person registering individually. This can be handled via the aNuCa marketplace – there you will find the registration for Student@aNuCa under services. Alternatively, we are happy to coordinate the process with you via email.

Ration planning & analysis

Nutrient requirements, calculation bases, and the evaluation of your rations.
Why are some bars displayed in grey?
A grey bar means that for this ingredient in the selected target value basis, no upper and lower limits are stored. A nutrient requirement exists, but the scientifically documented limits are missing, against which an over- or under-supply could be color-coded. Therefore, only the requirement coverage along the target value basis is displayed – without color classification.
Why is no bar displayed for some ingredients at all?
In this case, the selected target value basis for this ingredient contains no information on nutrient requirements. Without a nutrient requirement, no requirement coverage can be calculated, which is why neither a bar nor a coverage level is shown. When switching to another target value basis, the ingredient may well appear if corresponding values are documented there.
Why is there no automatic adjustment of nutrient requirements for clinical pictures?
We are aware that a selection list with automatically corrected nutrient requirements would be convenient. We have discussed this question with veterinarians in the past – quite controversially – and deliberately decided against it. The reason: A sick animal usually does not present with a single clinical picture, but with several factors that influence each other – age, concomitant diseases, medication, general condition. A correction based on diagnosis could not fully reflect these interrelationships, but would give the impression that the ration is technically sound. We consider precisely this false sense of security to be the greater risk. Instead, aNuCa is designed so that you can specifically adjust each individual nutrient – upwards as well as downwards, suitable for the individual condition of the animal. The technical assessment of which adjustment is correct in a specific case thus remains where it belongs: with you as a nutritional consultant, animal naturopath, or veterinarian.
What does the difference between a 0 and an empty field in ingredients mean?
The difference is important for the validity of your analysis. A 0 is a maintained entry: The ingredient is actually not contained in the feed. An empty field, on the other hand, means that no entry is available for this value – it is unknown or was not recorded. For the calculation, this means: Empty fields can make the total quantity of an ingredient appear too low because a potentially existing amount cannot be included. With a 0, however, you can rely on the value being correctly included as zero. Therefore, for critical rations, please check whether empty fields can be supplemented from the manufacturer's declaration.

Feeds & database

Create my feeds, data sources and the search in the database.
Who is responsible for the quality of the stored product data?
That depends on the source. Data from the BLS come from a scientifically verified, licensed database. Manufacturer data are provided and managed by the respective manufacturer themselves; in the feed search, they are marked with a 💎. Community feeds and your own entries come from users – here, the responsibility lies with the person who created the entry. In addition, there is a stock of feeds that we created ourselves during the development phase of aNuCa – based on the BLS, official feed databases and with the support of students from training institutes. These entries are no longer maintained by us and do not claim to be complete. They are suitable for trying out, not as a basis for reliable consultations. For well-founded analyses, we therefore recommend the data from the BLS as well as the original data provided by manufacturers (marked with a 💎 in the feed search). For technically critical rations, information should also be compared with the manufacturer's declaration.
How reliable are community feeds?
Community feeds are created and released by users – by users for users. We do not technically check these entries; data sovereignty lies with the person who created the feed. In practice, this means: Entries may contain input or conversion errors or be incompletely maintained. Community feeds are therefore well suited to quickly find a product or to have a starting point – for reliable consultations, however, we recommend BLS or manufacturer data (marked with a 💎 in the feed search). If you use a community feed, please compare the values with the manufacturer's declaration.
I discovered an error in a community feed – what can I do?
You can contact the user who created the feed directly about it. As soon as a community feed is in your analysis, a contact form appears when hovering with the mouse, through which you can send a personal message – for example, with the note that a value does not match the declaration. This way, errors can be corrected where data sovereignty lies: with the creator of the entry. This improves data quality for everyone who uses the same product.

SmartAssist

Our concept for intelligent assistance – and how we handle your data in the process.
What is SmartAssist?
SmartAssist is not a single tool, but our consistent concept: to take over recurring manual work where it costs the most time in consultation. The first implementation is the Feed Scanner – with it, you create feeds from a label photo, a product page or an inserted text, instead of typing each value individually. Step by step, we are bringing SmartAssist to other areas of aNuCa, wherever effort can be meaningfully reduced.
Is there artificial intelligence behind SmartAssist?
Not everywhere – SmartAssist stands for work simplification, not for a specific technology. We decide which method to use depending on the task. The Feed Scanner uses machine recognition to evaluate texts and labels. Other SmartAssist functions, on the other hand, work purely mathematically: They calculate according to fixed rules within aNuCa, without data leaving the system. Should further functions with machine recognition be added in the future, we will check the data protection implications in advance and update the Privacy Policy and this page accordingly.
Which data are processed by SmartAssist functions?
As a general rule: Only what is necessary for the respective function is processed – not the entire data inventory of your account. For the Feed Scanner, this is solely the product information you provide for evaluation: the label photo, the inserted declaration text or the content of a manufacturer page. For recognition, we use a specialized service provider who exclusively receives this information. Your analyses, pet data, customer data and account information are neither required nor transmitted. Functions that work purely computationally process exclusively within aNuCa. You can find details in our Privacy Policy.
How often can I use the Feed Scanner?
During the ten-day trial period, the Feed Scanner is available to you for a limited number of scans for trying out. As soon as you have concluded a membership, this limitation is removed.

Security & privacy

Where your data is stored, how it is protected, and who can access it.
Where is my data stored?
Your data is stored exclusively on a server in Germany, which we operate and administer ourselves with a German provider. No data transfer to third countries takes place. Thus, processing is continuously subject to the GDPR.
How are my login credentials protected?
Passwords are not stored in plain text, but as a hash – a process that cannot be reversed. Therefore, we cannot view your password either. All communication between your browser and aNuCa runs encrypted via HTTPS; the certificates are continuously renewed.
Who can view my data and documents?
All content in aNuCa – analyses, growth curves, reduction planning, bowl plans, my feeds and stored documents – are assigned to your account and are not visible to other users. They only become visible if you share them yourself using the sharing function. Technically, as operators, we have access to the database, as this is necessary for operation, troubleshooting, and support. We use this access exclusively for this purpose and do not pass on any data to third parties.
Do I need a data processing agreement with you as a consultant?
Yes. If you process your clients' data in aNuCa, you are responsible under data protection law and we act on your behalf. In this case, we provide a corresponding data processing agreement, which you can find in the appendix of our Privacy Policy and use for your own documentation.
What happens to my data in case of a technical failure?
We create daily backups of the entire database. In the event of a failure or an attack, operations can be restored to a current state, so that no significant data loss occurs.
Who develops and operates aNuCa?
aNuCa is developed by a software development team – the application is our product, not a byproduct of consulting activities. We develop, operate, and maintain the platform entirely ourselves, without outsourced development. Further development draws from two sources. Firstly, from practice: consultants, lecturers, and trainees contribute their requirements, and we implement them. Secondly, from our own product development – SmartAssist, for example, originated with us, from the question of how recurring manual work can be meaningfully automated. From both, an application emerges that is technically stable and technically sound.
How do you keep the system secure?
We operate the server ourselves and continuously apply security and system updates. In addition, there is the regular renewal of HTTPS certificates and updates of the software components used.

for manufacturers & partners

Partner programs for feed manufacturers and training institutes.
We are feed manufacturers – how can we provide our product data in aNuCa?
Through our partner program, we receive original data directly from the manufacturer. Your products then appear as a verified source in the feed database, marked with a 💎, and no longer need to be manually created by users. This avoids transfer errors and ensures that your products are included in rations with correct values. We personally assist with the integration. Please contact us via the contact address in the footer – we will then jointly clarify the format, scope, and process.
What does it mean to be a verified data source in aNuCa as a manufacturer?
Your data is then demonstrably from yourself and not from third-party copies. Users recognize this in the feed search by the 💎 and can rely on calculating with your original values. This extends to the pet owner: if your product is included in a ration, it appears by name in the bowl plan and on the shopping list that the pet owner receives from their consultant – with exact quantity information for the week. Completely and correctly stored products can also be more easily planned into needs-covering rations than those with incomplete values. A preferred display or recommendation is expressly not associated with this – the consultant alone decides which feeds are included in a ration. You as the manufacturer remain responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of the information.
We are a training institute – is there a partner program for us?
Yes. In addition to free of charge access for individual lecturers, we can also set up entire courses together: you register your participants collectively, instead of each person registering individually. You can find the registration for Student@aNuCa in the aNuCa marketplace under services; we will gladly coordinate the process for entire courses personally with you.

Affiliate & usage rights

Referral program and the usage of aNuCa content.
Is there a referral program?
Yes. Through the affiliate program, you can recommend aNuCa and be compensated for referred memberships. The registration takes place in your account and is open to all users. After registration, you will receive personal referral links that you can freely use – for example, in your own documents or in your newsletter. In the affiliate dashboard, you can see at any time the status of the users you have referred and which billings have already occurred. The exact conditions – such as which customers are considered qualified and when a payout occurs – can be found in the Terms and Conditions that are displayed to you upon registration.
May I use screenshots from aNuCa in your own documents?
Yes. You may use images from aNuCa – such as evaluations, diagrams, or plans – in your own documents, training materials, or publications. We only ask for a source attribution mentioning anuca.net. Please check whether the image contains information that could identify your clients or their animals – such as names or comments from the consultation. You are responsible for the disclosure of this data; therefore, remove or redact it before use.
